Tim Beckham hit his first career big league home run, a solo shot that gave the Rays a 2-0 lead over the Marlins on Saturday.
But what makes this home run even better is the big league bat flip.
This is the best.

That's been a long time coming for Tim.
Chicks dig the long ball, Timmy!
He (Beckham) looked good tonight.
Now they REALLY need his buddy Souza to get going- he looks like he's got a great, quick, powerful swing, but that he's not making any in-at-bat or even in-game adjustments to various pitches or pitchers.
I'd love to see Dykstra get his first MLB hit asap because (a) they can't go a week+ without a hit from their 1B (b) seeing a player reach that milestone moment they've dreamed of their entire life sends chills down the spine. (c) he's a power hitter, who, if he can figure out big league pitching, can be a more prototypical 1B than Loney (who won't be here forever). Remember, Dykstra was a first round pick so the potential is there.
Souza needs to move down to 9th in the order till he gets it going and keep KK at the top with Jaso 2nd when he returns.
Tough decision to give Beckham more playing time the way he's hitting.
Forsythe is well aware of that. At some point he's going to push it. That might bring mixed results for him.
The answer is to move Forsyth to 1st and send Dykstra back down.
For now. And when Loney comes back?
Nice conundrum to have.
DH him, but yeah, it's going to be an issue.
Forsyth is playing great defense and is doing well offensively too. I don't think he's looking over his shoulder at Beckham.
It's going to get really hairy when Franklin's ready to come back...
They're gonna give Dykstra a good long look to see if he's an MLB player or if his ship has sailed.
Maybe it was just because it's early in the season, but I really enjoyed watching the nuances of the Rays involved in National League play. I've always liked the DH, but I may be becoming a traditionalist.
I'm certain you missed the look Forsythe gave Beckham during the Indian file celebration.
It reminded me instantly of the look Sophia Loren gave to Jayne Mansfield's soup bowl during Loren's welcome-to-Hollywood party in 1957. Fwiw, Ms. Loren was terrified that Ms. Mansfield's cup was going to spilleth over.
If directed correctly, that competitive spirit can lead to great things. Big. Huge. Humongous.
Btw, yes. It is readily apparent that this team has the chemistry and the bravado that last year's "team" did not have.
I expect the unexpected from it.
Yeah... a boatload of rookies and a new manager / new voice. Ingredients for great chemistry & real fun.... as opposed to Maddon's forced efforts last year.
[BTW, I've never criticized Maddon before... I think he was out of ideas with these guys, though...]
